He was predeceased by: his parent Stephen Spencer; his wife Pearl Coffin; his daughter Cathy; his grandson Andy Coffin; his great grandchild Nicholas Spencer; his siblings, Sid Spencer, Steven Spencer, George Spencer, Henry Spencer, Patrick Spencer, Eileen Rogers and Ruth Spence; and his brother-in-law Lorenzo Samms.

He is survived by: his parent Emma Spencer; his children, Donna Farrell (Rick) of Port, Linda Schroh (Greg) of Corner Brook, NL, Sherry Wallace (Grant) of Vancover, BC, Dan Matthews (Lorraine) of London, Pat Spencer (Elaine) of Moncton, NB, Herb Spencer of Cambridge and Gary Spencer (Valerie); his stepchildren, Jessie Ford (Kenny), Chester Coffin (Helen), Brian Coffin (Annie) of St. John and Diane Coffin of Hamilton, Ont; his siblings, Bob Matthews (Gloria) of Greenwood, NS, Frank Matthews (Carolann) and Pauline Samms (Hubert Pearce); and his sister-in-law Josie Spencer of Halifax, NS. He is also survived by grandchildren; sixteen (16) great-grandchildren plus a large circle nieces, nephews and friends.

Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Ross' memory can be made to the St. James Anglican Church.
