He was predeceased by: his father Benjamin James (Ivy); his siblings, Josephine Barter (Gordon), Catherine Parsons (Harry) and Murdock James (Velma); his son-in-law Julian Hussey; his grandson-in-law Thomas Frith; and his parents-in-law, Simeon and Edith Kearley.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Catherine James Cutler (Derek) of Yellowknife, NWT, Robert James (Sadie), Vera Hickey (Edward) of Brooks, AB, Darlene Smolarchuk (Richard) of Grande Cache, AB and Richard James (Corrina); his grandchildren, Jonah Cutler (Elizabeth Wilson), Julia Frith, Sheena Corbeil (Justin), Alexander Hickey, Myles Hickey, Kyle James Hussey (Laiken), Taylor Simms (Brian) and Casey Hackett (Joey); his great grandchildren, George, Eli, Nathan, Andrew, Leah, Zander, Mera, Kaladin and Catherine; and his sister Paulette Burke (Danny).
