He is survived by : his children, Glen Matthews (Juanita) of Fortune and Jeanette Mavin (Walt) of Mount Pearl; his grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Jillian and Katelyn; his great grandchildren, Ryan and Benjamin; and his sisters, Emma Thornhill, Gladys Lowry, Elsie Buffett and Dorothy Caughill.

In Roland's memory donations may be made to the family.

“It was with great sorrow when i learned of the passing of my Uncle Ro. I will cherish the memories as a child when he took me troutin at Rocky Pond and later as an adult we continued our love of fishing. He came up to Toronto and we arranged a 4 day trip to fish the entire time and he loved it! I offer my sincerest condolences to Jeanette and Glen and all the family. Rest in Peace Uncle Ro”
