It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melvin Alexander Burt of Gander, Newfoundland, who passed away on January 13, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Burt and Minnie Burt; and his siblings, William Burt (Bill), Nellie Eveleigh and Daisy Jewer.

He is survived by: his nieces, Flora Doyle and Elizabeth Maga (Mihai); his great-nephew Sebastian; his great-niece Sydney of Whitby; his brother Billy; his great-uncle Arthur; his uncle Art; his friend Eva; his uncle Melvin; and also, Penny of St. John's and Minnie Burt.

During his time there he was often sought out to be the "face" of Lakeside Homes, often seen in the news, whether being the first senior to receive his COVID shot in the region, highlighting the new nursing home that was being built while he was at Lakeside or tirelessly fundraising for a new accessible bus for outings for the residents.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Recreation Department at Lakeside Homes in Gander.
