He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert and Emmie; his stepmother Lilly; and his father-in-law Ben Smith. He is survived by: his wife Alma; his sons, Todd (Audra) of Truro and Tony (Candice Ennis-Williams) of St. John's; his sister-in-law Marion Smith (Tony) of Fredericton; his mother-in-law Pearl Smith; his siblings, Wayne (Jeannie), Kevin (Rowena) and Marilyn (Bob Inkpen); his grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Alexander and Ava; and his nephews, John, David, Chad and Peter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Fraser Road United Church.
