He was predeceased by: his wife Cora Day; his parents, William Day and Ethel Day; his siblings, Jean Harfitt, Victor Day (Lucy) and Onslow Day; his parents-in-law, Levi and Edith Legge; and his siblings-in-law, Gerald Sweet, Gerard Inkpen, Eileen and Frances Legge.

He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Grandy (Shawn) of Garnish, Maxine Eckersall (Mark) of Medicine Hat, AB and Dwayne Day (Trina) of Garnish; his grandchildren, Aaron Grandy, Mackenzie Coady (Caden) and Aidan Eckersall; his siblings, Bernice Day (Bill) of Toronto, ON, Sadie Grandy (Lloyd) of Garnish, Margaret Sweet of Halifax, NS, Joan Inkpen of Halifax, NS, Lloyd Day (Meta) of Garnish, James Day (Doris) of Garnish and Gerald Day (Lillian) of Garnish; his siblings-in-law, Sherman Harfitt of Lewins Cove, Dennis Legge of Garnish, Wilbert Legge (Angeline) of Garnish, Rodney Legge (Joanne) of Halifax, NS, Noel Legge (Patricia) of Garnish, Margaret Evans (Carl) of Grand Bank and Phyllis Coady (Eric) of Garnish; and his close friends, Donald Pardy of Boat Harbour and Barry Keating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 15th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Salvation Army Citadel (604 Sunset Dr, Garnish, NL A0E1T0). A burial will be held on Sunday, June 15th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Salvation Army Cemetery (604 Sunset Dr, Garnish, NL A0E1T0).

In Herbert's memory donations may be made to the Garnish Salvation Army Cemetery Fund or flowers gratefully accepted.
