He was predeceased by : his wife Ruth. He is survived by : his daughters, Sherry (Jason), Renee (Kevin) and Karla (CJ); his grandchildren, Amber (Steve), Nicholas (Maddy), Codi and Brady; his stepgranddaughter Skylar; and his brothers, Boyd (Agnes) and Vaden (Debbie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

“I was deeply saddened to hear about Winston's passing. I first met Wins when he managed a project on the T’Railway in Port Aux Basques over 25 years ago. Winston's ability to solve any problem, knowledge of every bridge and everything else on the T’Railway, the countless laughs we shared during our meetings in Gander I will remember fondly.
