He was predeceased by: his wife Gertrude; his parents, Phoebe Whitten and Cecil Whitten; his siblings, Cyril Whitten (Phyllis), Madelyn Whitten, Marguerite Weir (Herbie), Maxwell Whitten (Blanche), Victor Whitten (Barbara) and Mamie Howlett (Jack); and his in-laws, E. Beverly Tynion (James), Jane Woods (James), Margaret Pratt (Edward), W. Elizabeth Kirk (Bud), Clara Joan Whitten (Robert), William Ryan, Thomas Edward Ryan and John Ryan.
He is survived by: his children, Beverly, Virginia (Garry Chafe), Susan (Keith Connors), Diane (Mike Dinn), Peggy (Steve Dinn), Rhonda (Brian Sheldon), Joanne (Sean O'Toole) and Ronny; his great grandchild Maria McDonald (Mitch); his grandchildren, Jordan Dinn, Jaime Gardiner (Chad), Katie Brazil (Will), Curtis Dinn (Mattieu Pitre), Laura Shelley (Matthew Noseworthy), Shaughn Connors, Stephen Connors (Emily Elliott) and Adam Shelley (Kailey Rice); his sister Stella Evans (late Murray); his in-laws, Patricia Ryan, Ruth Ryan and James Ryan (Lena); his nephew Douglas Howlett; and his friend Derm Molloy. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Kevin's Church (454 Main Rd, Goulds, NL A1S1E8). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at the St. Kevin's Cemetery.
Flowers or donations to the Goulds Lions Club or a charity of one's choice, will graciously be accepted.
