He was predeceased by: his parents, William Walsh and Elizabeth Walsh (Howse); his parents-in-law, George and Lucy Stoodley (Baker); his siblings, Melvin, Rodney, Mary Walsh, Viola Walsh and Marie McDonald; his siblings-in-law, Johannes, Charles Savoury, Sarah Stoodley, Stella Stoodley and Mary Blagdon; and his nephew Anthony Walsh.
He is survived by: his wife Jane (Stoodley); his children, Joanne Rose (Jason) of St. John's, NL, Jocelyn Pierce (Gerald) of Grand Prairie, AB and Richard Jr. (Kim) of Grand Prairie, AB; his grandchildren, Kelsi (Stephen), Kennedy (Michael), Nicholas, Benjamin, Spencer, Savannah, Kolby, Ebony and Brycen; his great grandchildren, Weston, Bowen, Lily, Layla and Cole; his siblings, Callistus (Una) of Milltown, NL, Johnny (Alice) of Ramea, NL, Robert (Lisa) of St. Albans, NL, Joseph (Melinda) of Pine Creek, AB, Regina Buffett (Simeon) of St. Joseph's Cove, NL and Maxine Dawe (Ralph) of Port de Grave, NL.; and his in-laws, John Stoodley of Harbour Breton, Bessie Savoury of Harbour Breton, George Stoodley of Harbour Breton, Anne of Harbour Breton, Ron Stoodley (Ernestine) of Harbour Breton, Patsy Strickland (Tom) of Harbour Breton, Mildred Mallet (Elphége) of Saint-Simon, NB, Mary Snook of Woodstock, ON, Ida Mallet of Kitchener, ON and Wayne Stoodley (Leanne) of Milltown. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Spencer's Funeral Home (190 Canada Dr, Harbour Breton, NL A0H 1P0). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
