Derek Rumney Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of Derek Rumney of Holyrood, Newfoundland. Derek, born on December 25, 1951, passed away on October 11, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Sydney and Ellen; his siblings, Vera Merckel and Peter; his parents-in-law, Stephen and Marcelle Austin; and his nephew David Dancoisne.

He is survived by: his wife Lorraine; his son Carl (Clare); his stepchildren, Krista Hayes (Robert) and Peter LeDrew (Sherry); his sister Helen Evans (Roger); his siblings-in-law, Ruth Rumney, Michelle Dancoisne (Michel) and Stephen Austin (Cathy); his grandchildren, Angel, Cody Rumney, Avery and Kara LeDrew; his extended family, Marilyn Coubrough (David) and Christine Fitzpatrick; Rachel Rumney. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
