He was predeceased by : his parents, William Barney and Mary Louise Barney; his siblings, Bella Flynn (Wilfred), Harriett, Dorothy Roberts (Don), Patricia Normore (Hedley), Richard (Laura) and William; and his brother-in-law Joseph Fowler.

He is survived by : his wife Whilamena; his children, Audrey (George), Irving (Elaine), Elaine (Craig) and Verda (Carl); his grandson Justin (Kassia); his great grandchildren, Aria, Marquita (Owen), Rebecca (Matthew), Emily (Devin) and Meghan (Brandon); and also Beulah Fowler. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and a large circle of friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 23rd 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Barrett's Funeral Home Chapel - Mt. Pearl (73 Commonwealth Ave, Mount Pearl, NL A1N1W7).
