He was predeceased by: his parents, James Joy and Margaret Joy (Ryan); and his brother Edward. He is survived by: his family, Barbara Ann Hawley (Joy), Austin Hawley, Kim Hawley George, Bradley George, Andie, Rose, Nathan George and Drs; his friend Adrian MacDonald; and his significant other Paris.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Caul's Funeral Home (84 Lemarchant Rd, St. John's, NL A1C2G8). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Teresa's Church (120 Mundy Pond Rd, St. John's, NL A1E1V1). The inurnment will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (799 Topsail Rd, Mount Pearl, NL A1N3J6). He walked the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela, Spain in his heart many times after COVID-19 put pause to his hiking dreams.
