He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Maidment and Frances Maidment; his sister Juanita; his nephew Nicholas; and his parents-in-law, Michael and Laura Cheeseman.

He is survived by: his son Mitchell (Sandra); his siblings, Bill (Rona) of Clarenville, Wayne (Flo) of Bridgewater, NS, Donna (David Hayes) of St. John's and Dianna (Barry White) of Dartmouth, NS; his siblings-in-law, Michelle Racine, Kellie (Kevin Pardy), Wade and Brad (Vanessa); his nieces and nephews, Terry, Greg, Michael, Travis, Josh, Virginia, Jenna, Summer and Molly; and his friends, Rod Butler, Kenny Penney and Don Greening. He is also survived by 5 great nephews, 1 great great nephew and 2 great nieces, as well as many cousins and great friends.
