He was predeceased by: his wife Alva (Pennell); his parents, Benjamin Abbott and Rhoda Abbott; his grandson Sterling Abbott; his great grandchildren, Pacy Pinsent and Lucas Winsor; and his siblings, William, Eli, Naboth, Tobias, James, Blanche Butt, Jessie Wells, Geraldine Manuel, Maggie Langdon and Muriel Lawrence.
He is survived by: his children, Lawrence (Joyce), Naboth (Brenda), Verna Dampier (William), Leslie (Dale), Pearce (Wendy), Homer (Linda) and Ula Tulk (Roy); his brother Chesley Abbott; and his sister-in-law Betty. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In keeping with COVID-19 recommendations and restrictions, visitation and funeral service will be by invitation only.
As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to The Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
