He was predeceased by : his wife Clara (Foley); his parents, Lawrence Benoit and Elizabeth Benoit (Gosney); and his siblings, Max, Ernest Frank, Genevieve, Sadie, Mary and Theresa.

He is survived by : his children, Peter (Grace), Nicky (Julia) and Lorraine (Bill); and his stepsons, Wayne, Kenneth and Steve. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and a large circle of friends.

“William/Billy Benoit was a long-time friend of the Leonards in Southern Harbour, as a boy and a teenager. I can remember Billy visiting us to have a conversation, a cup of tea, and some fun with us children trying to scare us mostly. He was always in a good mood and we thought of him as a gentle giant. He was always singing in the dark of night when he would leave to go home. May you rest in peace, Billy. Peter, Carrie, and the Leonard families.”
