We are sad to announce that on May 2, 2024, Douglas Charles Simms Jr. of Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his wife Melva Simms; his parents, Dr. Douglas Charles Simms Sr. and Dorothy McKay Simms; his brother Philip Simms of New Liskeard, ON.; and his siblings-in-law, Brian Adams, Newman Sparkes, Lloyd Critch, Phillip Sparkes and Valerie Duval.

He is survived by : his children, Patricia Reid (Darren) of Rocky Harbour, Mark Simms (Darlene) of St. John's, Laura Simms (Dan Ficken) of St. John's, Krysta Simms (Matthew Shears) of Rocky Harbour and David Simms of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Nathan Reid, Hanna, Kaitlyn Simms, Evan Simms Ficken, Isabella and Brianna Shears; his siblings, Judy Simms (John) of Prince George, BC, Greg Simms (Mary) of Barrie, ON, Richard Simms (Diana) of Alliston, ON, Colin Simms (Susan) and Andrea Adams of St. John's, NL; and his siblings-in-law, Leslie Simms, Chelsea Critch, Elizabeth Gilley (Norman), Roy Sparkes (Rita), Venus Thomas (Wilson), Wayne Sparkes (Diane), Gaius Sparkes (Della), Sandra Ruth Sparkes (Wayne), Barbara Sparkes, Nancy Sparkes and Blandford Duval. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a circle of extended family and friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 5th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Fillatre's Funeral Home (4 St Marks Ave, Corner Brook, NL A2H 7H7). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 6th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Fillatre's Funeral Home Chapel (4 St Marks Ave, Corner Brook, NL A2H 7H7).
