She was predeceased by : her parents, Annie Sparkes and Chesley Sparkes of Rocky Harbour; her brothers, Newman Sparkes and Phillip Sparkes; her brother-in-law Lloyd Critch; her parents-in-law, Dr. Douglas Sr. and Dorothy Simms of St. John's; and also, Dr. Philip Simms and Dr. Brian Adams.
She is survived by : her husband Dr. Douglas Simms Jr; her children, Patricia Reid (Darren) of Rocky Harbour, Mark Simms (Darlene) of St. John's, Laura Simms (Dan Ficken) of St. John's, Krysta Simms (Matthew Shears) of Rocky Harbour and David Simms of St. John's; her grandchildren, Nathan Reid, Hanna, Kaitlyn Simms, Evan Simms Ficken and Isabella Shears; her siblings, Chelsea Critch, Elizabeth Gilley (Norman), Roy Sparkes (Rita), Valerie Duval (Blandford), Venus Thomas (Wilson), Wayne Sparkes (Ruby), Gaius Sparkes (Della) and Sandra Ruth Sparkes (Wayne); and her siblings-in-law, Barbara Sparkes, Nancy Sparkes, Judy DeGrace (John), Leslie Simms, Andrea Adams, Dr. Greg Simms (Mary), Dr. Richard Simms (Diana) and Colin Simms (Susan). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Cancer Clinic, Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
