He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mercer and Elsie Mercer; his parents-in-law, Norman and Mary Parsons; and his sisters, Edie (Graham) and Lizzie (Baxter).
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Parsons; his children, Robert (Donna), Stephen (Kim), Andrew (Nicole) and Susanne (Richard); his grandchildren, Christopher (Luanne), Morgan, Matthew, Ben, Anna, Erin and Adam; his siblings, Henry (Eliza), Verdon (Mary) and Cavell (Robert); his siblings-in-law, Baxter, Walter (Joan), Joan, Valma (Wayne), Loretta (David), Pam (Eric) and Paula; and his friend Clayton Coombs.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in his loving memory to Holy Redeemer Breakfast Program.
