He was predeceased by: his parents, Eleazer Benson (Sandy) and Amelia Benson (Millie); and his siblings, George, Cecil, Thomas, Donald, Beulah, Olive, Dorothy, Audrey and Mary.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth (Bishop); his children, Scott, Todd and Gillian Harris (Stephen); his grandchildren, Rachel Meeker (Curtis), Zachary Benson, Rebecca Harris (Keith), Andrew Harris, Chris Benson, Jonathan Harris and Davan Benson; and his great grandchild Amelia.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Barrett's Funeral Homes - St. John's (328 Hamilton Ave, St. John's, NL A1E1J9). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Bethesda Pentecostal Church (1 Escasoni Pl, St. John's, NL A1A0K7).
