We are sad to announce that on October 4, 2025 we had to say goodbye to John W. McGrath Ll. B K. C. (St John's, Newfoundland). You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Donna (Pike); his parents, Wilfrid McGrath and Claire McGrath (Duggan); his parents-in-law, William and Serena Pike (Crummey); and his siblings-in-law, June Skanes, Ruby Pike, Shirley Stimpson, Boyd Pike and Eric Skanes.
He is survived by: his sons, Tim (Andrea) and Andrew (Beth); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Anna, John Raymond (JR) and Emilie; his brother Dr. Lynn McGrath (Melissa); his siblings-in-law, Roy Pike, Bruce Pike (Ruth) and Shirley Hiscock; John. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carnell's Funeral Home (329 Freshwater Rd, St. John's, NL A1B1C3). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John the Baptist Cathedral Basilica (200 Military Rd, St. John's, NL A1C2E8). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery (53 James Ln, St. John's, NL A1E3H3).
In lieu of flowers, the family would respectfully suggest considering a donation in his memory to The Vera Perlin Charitable Foundation (https://www.veraperlinsociety.ca.) or Sport NL's KidSport Newfoundland and Labrador Program (https://kidsportcanada.ca), two organizations which John supported.
