She was predeceased by: her husband George Chafe; her parents, Wilfred Dawe and Violet Dawe; her sister Margaret Day; her son-in-law Michael LeBlanc; and her brother Alfred Dawe.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy LeBlanc, Robert Chafe (Janice), Gerald Chafe, Nancy Gosse (Fred) and Sandra Hussey (Derrick); her grandchildren, Christopher LeBlanc (Kate), Amanda LeBlanc (JP), Sarah Gosse, Jessica Gosse, Kevin Gosse, Tyler Hussey, Sam Hussey (Kaylee) and Emily Hussey (Mark); her brothers, Rupert Dawe (Paula) and Walter Dawe (Janet); and her siblings-in-law, Helen Dawe and Melville Day.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Carnell's Funeral Home (329 Freshwater Rd, St. John's, NL A1B1C3). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Carnell Memorial Chapel.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
