With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marjorie (Simmons) Isabel Kerr (St John's, Newfoundland), who passed away on May 22, 2026 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Robert; her son Ian; her brother Ray Simmons; her parents, Gertrude Simmons (Raymond) and Bertram Simmons; her parents-in-law, Isabella (Ross) and William Kerr; and her siblings-in-law, George Babich, Ian Kerr, Blythe Wilson and Margaret Wilson (Kerr).
She is survived by: her son Andrew; her grandson Brian (Tanya); her daughter-in-law Kathy; her grandsons, William (Keelin Tucker) and David; her sister Ruth Babich; her nephews, Michael (Colleen) and Mark (Jane); her niece Deborah; her sister-in-law Lorraine Simmons (Garf); and her nieces and nephews, Kathy (Fred Hubley), Nancy (Sheldon Steeves), Ruth (Millard Steeper), Jane (Ernie Squires), Paul (Linda Kendall), Kerr Wilson, Ailsa Wilson and Fiona Masters.
Given her passion for and lifelong commitment to teaching and learning, especially that of reading, and her dedication to enabling such opportunities for all, donations in her memory can be made to the Learning Disabilities Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (https://www.ldanl.ca) or a charity of one's choice.
