He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian and William; and his brother Bill. He is survived by: his wife Gail; his siblings, Sylvia (Bill), Mary (John) and Dan (Karen); his nieces and nephews, Heidi (Dean), John (Vera), Melanie, Cory, Desiree, Reeghan, Terri (Jeff), Danny and Mathew (Jackie); his brother-in-law Hugh; and his niece Erin (Sean).

I met Ray when my family moved to NL in 1978 and can say truthfully that he was always interesting, intelligent, friendly and so likeable. We often sat at Duckworth Lunch and seemed to enjoy the friendliness of Lewis Bernstein and his young staff (which included my daughter Caroline), Ray was such a principled man it reassured me that he was a businessman...in too many places the two do not often go together.
