It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rubena Sarah McKenzie (St John's, Newfoundland), born in Norris Point, Newfoundland, who passed away on June 28, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin McKenzie and Elizabeth McKenzie; and her sister Rebecca. She is survived by: her siblings, Ernest (Betty), Elizabeth Kennedy (Joe) and Beverly House (Rod); her niece Athena (Robert); her nephews, Mark (Lori), Kurt (Jessica), Todd (Shaunda), Kirk House (Julie), Jason (Nicole) and Tim Kennedy (Jessica); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Chloe, Sophie, Finley, Owen, Nash, Wyatt, Luke, Jade, Hannah, Riley, Sophia, Jaxson and Forrest; and her aunts, Kate and Sadie. She is also survived by her niece, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests a donation be made in her memory to The Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation.

“Hello I would like to offer my condolences on the loss of Rubena. I didn’t know her but my name is Susan Heather Rubena Kenny. I grew up in Wiltondale and my Mom was Rosa Kenny. I believe Rubena lived with my Mom for a period of time when she was teaching there and my Mom spoke very highly of her. So much so she gave me her name. I wish I could have met her. I’m very sorry for your loss Susan”
