He was predeceased by: his wife Gertrude Garland; his parents, Mary Ellen and James William Garland; and his siblings, George, Percy, May, Alice, Myrtle, Jane and Bessie.
He is survived by: his children, Austin, Dale, Roger, Chad, Beverly, Laurie, Jamie, Estelita and Mary (Albert). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James's memory can be made to the St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, St. Georges, NL.
