He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Stapleton and Annie Stapleton; his son James Michael Stapleton; his children-in-law, Ledon Lawlor (Derek Stapleton) and Roy Byrne (Debbie Byrne); his sisters, Cecilia Mathews (Jim) and Catherine Smith (William); his parents-in-law, Catherine Jollymore and James Jollymore; and his brothers-in-law, Warren Jollymore (Pearl) and Billy Don Younger.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Stapleton (Jollymore); his children, Johnny (Shirley), Gerry (Alice), Danny (Dianne), Derek, Debbie, Janet (Joe), Yvette (Keith) and Kelly (Billy); his sister-in-law Joan Younger; and his cousin Willie Gosse. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends.
