Charles Barnes Obituary
We are sad to announce that on January 18, 2022, at the age of 89, Charles Barnes of Topsail, Newfoundland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Barnes and Flora Barnes; and his siblings, Annie Cooper, Maxwell Barnes, Flora Hollett, William Barnes, Mary Morgan and Elsie Barnes.
He is survived by : his former life partner Joan Chaytor Barnes; his children, Joan Adams (Bill Stewart) of New Westminster, BC and Richard (Gail Perry); his grandchildren, Kim Barnes (Darrell) of Pasadena, NL, Christopher Devore (Andrea Ghiselli) of San Jose, CA, Elaine Barnes (Derek Haines) of Kamloops, BC, Daniel Barnes (Danielle Cossar) and Steven Adams of Burnaby, BC.; his great grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica Barnes, Angelika Barnes, Amaris Haines, Vivienne Devore of San Jose, CA, Henry Cossar Barnes and Charlie; his close friend Agnes Snow of Kelligrews; and his sister-in-law Madge Barnes of Topsail.
We are grateful, too, for the extraordinary competence and compassion of the EMTs, social workers and nurses of HSC, who, even in the face of this relentless and tiring pandemic, consistently provided world class care for Charlie in the final weeks and hours of his life. According to COVID restrictions, a private visitation will be at Hickey's Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 from11 am to 3 pm by invitation only.
