He was predeceased by : his parents, John Michael and Catherine Marie Murphy; and his brothers, Jimmy, Paul and Tony.

He is survived by : his siblings, Bernard (Elaine), John (Shirley), Mary (Charles), Linda and Cecilia (Paul); his sister-in-law Bev; his sons, Christopher and Michael (Holly); and his grandchildren, Raeleigh and Dawson. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

The family have requested no flowers, instead donations could be made to a charity of one's choice in Gary's name.
