He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Furlong and Loretta Furlong (Flynn); his siblings, Edward Furlong, Dennis Furlong and Eleanor Furlong; his former wife Catherine Furlong (Prowse); and his wife Alana Kennedy.

He is survived by: his children, Janet Irvine (Richard), Susan Beekman (Roger), Rob Furlong and Mike Furlong (Erin Efford); his grandchildren, Sam (Katherine), Ben (Pier), Brynn (Alex), Jack, Stella and Will; his siblings, Pat Furlong (Erica), Dolores Furlong, Madelyn Doody (Tom) and Garry Furlong (Marina); his sisters-in-law, Eleanor Furlong, Pauline Manning and Frances Prowse; and his stepchildren, Stephen and Melissa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
