He was predeceased by: his son Roger Bannister; his adoptive parents, Elikam Bannister and Dorothy Bannister; his parents, Gilbert Holmes and Bessie Holmes; and his siblings, Edwin, Graham, Cavelle, Ruby, Florella, Jean and Irene.

He is survived by: his wife Leaving; his son Jamie Bannister; his granddaughters, Sydney, Ainsley and Neely; and his extended family Sandra Pretty.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Association.
