He was predeceased by: his parents, Louise Wambolt (Ernie) and Ernie Hawes; and his brother Albert. He is survived by: his sisters, Susan Hawes of Nova Scotia and Donna Miller (Chris) of Nova Scotia. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
