He was predeceased by : his parents, Emanuel Gillard and Elizabeth Gillard; his granddaughter Hannah; and his sisters, Doris McDonald (Scotty) and Edith Stuckless (Clifford).

He is survived by : his wife Mary Fitzpatrick; his children, Lee, Tanya, Tara (Joe) and Michael (Rebeccah); and his grandchildren, Max, Alex, Tim (Cydney) and Sarah (Michael). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Donations in Roy's memory may be given to the Twillingate Volunteer Fire Department.
