He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Carter and Laura Carter (Bowser); his wife Betty; his siblings, Pauline Griffiths, Leslie, Vernon and Harold; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Blenkhorn, Judy, Teresa and Earleen.

He is survived by: his children, Laura Dunnington (Stewart) of Dartmouth, Kathy Craib (Richard) of Brookdale, Sheri Carter of Grand Prairie, Alberta and Mike Carter (Linda) of Amherst; his siblings, Marilyn Bacon (Howard) of Leicester, Sandra Blenkhorn of Amherst and Roland of Amherst; and his sister-in-law June Carter. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
