John Michael Joseph Burke Obituary
We are sad to announce that, on August 21, 2025, at the age of 57, John Michael Joseph Burke (Amherst, Nova Scotia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, David Downey and Linda Burke (Hope); his significant other Virginia Burke (Spence); his stepfather James "Jimmy" Burke; his brothers, David and Steven Handspiker; his parents-in-law, Ernest and Renovia Spence; and his sisters-in-law, Sherry Sampson and Nancy Morton.
He is survived by: his children, Amy Dempsey (Chuck) of Maccan, Scott Stevens (Kelsey) of Aulac, Marley Stevens of Amherst and Sarah Ripley (John); his grandchildren, Jordon, Kolbi (Ashley), Kooper, Jackson, Payton, Allie and Topanga; and his siblings, Leon Burke (Janey), Brent Burke, Bruce Brownell, Leslie Downey, DJ Burke (Rob), Sandi Brownell (Jeff) and Brenda Downey. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews as well as extended family.
