It is with sadness that the passing of Leota Hawkes of Amherst, Nova Scotia is shared. Leota, born on July 14, 1962, passed away on October 19, 2026. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Leota Hawkes to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth Atkinson and Sarah Atkinson (Trueman); her son-in-law Marc Gauvin; and her brothers, Larry, Dougie, George and Cecil.
She is survived by: her husband Larry; her daughters, Tanya Gauvin and Angela Hawkes (Trevor); her grandchildren, Landen, Colten and Cayden; and her siblings, Bobby (Aileen) of Truemanville, Stanley (Pauline) of Truemanville, Albert (Debbie) of Truemanville, Philip (Beryl) of Amherst, Amherst Head of Amherst, Jackie (Gladys) of Amherst, Frank of Amherst, Ruth Estabrooks of Sackville, NB, Judy Langille of Amherst, Nancy Jones of Amherst, Mildred Bull of Truemanville, Brenda Fleury (Paul) of Truemanville and Elsie Dupuis (David) of Truemanville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Campbell's Funeral Home (98 Church St, Amherst, NS B4H3B4).
Donations may be made in Leota's memory to Liver Canada, Canadian Cancer Society or to the Warren Cemetery.
