Sarah Mellen Downing Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sarah Mellen Downing of Amherst, Nova Scotia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 12, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Chase and Georgie Chase (Fraser); her husband Donald Downing; her brother Harry Chase; and her niece Marika.

She is survived by: her children, Margaret of Amherst, David (Eva) of Kanata, Ontario and John (Kaori) of Kanata, Ontario; her grandchildren, Lydia (Phil), Carrie (Frank), Jeff and Josh; and her niece Tanya. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews on her late husband's side, extended family, and her many friends.
