With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Theodora Vriend (Joan Jopie) Johanna (Amherst, Nova Scotia), who passed away on June 30, 2025 at the age of 94. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Theodora Vriend (Joan Jopie) Johanna to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Johannes Broek and Johanna van den Broek (van Drunen); her brother Gerard; and her son Patrick (Jennifer Chadwick). She is survived by: her husband Piet of Amherst; her children, Michael (Judy), Anita Spence (Darrell) and Iris Rodger (Brian); her grandchildren, Nathan, Jessica (Adam), Johnathan, Tina (Evan), SJ, Andrea (Randy), Michael, Julie (Sean) and Matthew (Jasmine); and her great grandchildren, Alex, Lincoln, Arwen, Zoë, Augie, Sean and Evelyn. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Jones Family Funeral Centre (70 Church St, Amherst, NS B4H3B2). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (63 Church St, Amherst, NS B4H3B1).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
