With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bernice MacDonald of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, who passed away on April 4, 2024 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Ronald "Rannie" Gillis and Catherine "Katie" Gillis (Spencer); her husband Leo MacDonald; and her siblings, Clement (Alice), Jackie (Jim), Sheldon, Alister and Ronald.

She is survived by : her children, Leona (Mark Lavers), Colin MacDonald (Susan) and Francis MacDonald; her siblings-in-law, Florence and John Dan; and her grandsons, Joshua and Luc (Olivia). She is also survived by many nieces and, nephews.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Ninian Cathedral (121 St Ninian St, Antigonish, NS B2G2L8). A burial was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at the St. Ninian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, to honor the life and memory of Bernice, we invite all who knew Bernice, to carry forward her compassion and kindness, by performing an act of kindness. Whether it is lending a helping hand to a neighbor, volunteering at a local charity, or simply sharing a kind word with someone in need, these gestures will reflect the love and generosity Bernice embodied throughout her, life.
