With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Francis Arthur Rossong (Antigonish, Nova Scotia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 15, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rossong and Blanche Rossong (Casey); his siblings, Hughie, John Jr. (Bernice), Fred, Jimmy, Bobby, Sophie Gottschall (Mike) and Mary MacIsaac (Colin); and his brothers-in-law, Achie MacPherson and Sid Dewar.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Rossong; his children, Joe Rossong (Lindiwe) and Cathy Breen (Jody); his grandchildren, Taylor, Aiden, Madison and Brayden; his sisters, Kaye MacPherson (Ralph), Theresa Dewar and Sault Ste Marie; and his siblings-in-law, Lorraine Rossong (Ralph), Jean Rossong, Olive Rossong and Steve Oakley. He is also survived by many neighbors, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Martha's Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.

“I was a nursing student at St. FX when I met Francis and Mary back in 2006. Almost 20 years ago. This year my son is graduating high school and was just accepted into St. FX for 2026. Tonight I was reminiscing about my days there, and it always makes me think of Francis and Mary. I would visit them often, Mary would knit me mittens and make me cookies. Francis was one of the kindest, gentlest, genuine souls I ever met. He went above and beyond for me, one year he even drove me to Halifax so”
