He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanton Hunter and Maye Hunter; his daughter Wendy Hunter; and his siblings, Lena Weale (late Billy), Jean Ingraham (late Raymond), Stanley and Frank.

He is survived by: his former wife Marjorie Prosser; his children, Jeff Hunter (Corinne Lund) and Kimberley Zlukosky (Lorne); his granddaughter Kaylee; and his siblings, Hazen (Judy), Hedley (Leslie), Beryl Lenentine (Edwin) and Marvella MacDonald (late Howard). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in David's memory may be made to Staples Settlement Church, Upper Hainesville.
