He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Merrick and Mabel Merrick (Wigg); his grandfather John; and his sister Joyce Hamilton. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Lyn Merrick (Craig); his children, Annaka of Boston, Christopher (Kate) of Ottawa and Evan (Katie) of Halifax; the mother of his children Mary; his grandchildren, Liam, Sophie, Beau and Luke; his nephew Robin Hamilton (Kerry) of Hudson, Quebec.; and his caregivers, Felicia Funke and Maria Konadu.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bedford United Church (1200 Bedford Hwy, Bedford, NS B4A1C3).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Parkinson Canada and the Animal Rescue Coalitions of Nova Scotia.
