She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Hersey and Frances Hersey (Boylan); her husband Ewart Hanspiker; her brother Roy Hersey; and her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hersey and Jackie Handspiker.

She is survived by: her daughters, Kimberly (Michael O'Neil) of Digby, Karen (Larry Holland) of Wilmot and Krista of Digby; her grandchildren, Anjelica (Alex Frankland) of Hammonds Plains, Phillip Cormier (Valerie) of Weymouth, Devin, Hailey Handspiker Wade of Halifax, Ashley and Nicholas O'Neil of Digby; her great grandchildren, Levi, Myles Frankland and Barret Cormier; her sisters, Darlene Hersey (Lester Thibault) of Digby and Susan Hersey (Jan McKinnon) of Kingston; and her brother-in-law Wayne Handspiker of Alberta. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
