Garnet Edward Jarvis Obituary
Garnet was 59 years old born May 22 1966, he went home to be with his Lord Monday July 14, 2025 at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by family.
Garnet was the son of the late Gilford Smith and Rose Jarvis.
He was a dedicated member of New Beginnings Ministries.
Family and friends were very important to Garnet. He was affectionately known as the seniors taxi driver, his mother always referred to him as Gertie, telling him he loved news as much as a old lady.
Garnet was born and raised in Weymouth Falls with his maternal grandparents. Garnet moved to Dartmouth at the age of 21, after his grandparents passed. He started working with his stepfather the late Calvin Brooks , who taught him all he needed to know about the trade.
He continued to work in the industry for the rest of his career, with his final employer and friend Tyrone Thomas of Ty's Concrete. Garnet took great pride in his work and always wanted to make sure the customers were happy.
Garnet will be sadly missed by his partner & wife of 25 years Donna Fraser. Sons: Xavier & Jermel. Daughters: Keisha, Alyvia & Rochelle. Godchild Justin. Mother: Rose Jarvis. Sisters; Tanya (Floyd), Eileen (John), Laura & Becky. Brothers: Ronnie (Margaret), Reid & Dion (Kate) and his 2 Granddaughters Mira & Kenny and his many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by: Maternal Grandparents Clarence and Maxine Jarvis, Paternal Grandparents Gerald and Evelyn Smith, Brother Troy Smith, Uncles Phillip & Bruce Jarvis and Aunt Irene Jarvis.
Going home service will be held Thursday July 24, 2025, 1PM, at 26 Cherry Brook Road Repass to be held after the service at 110 Bell Street East Preston NS.
