She was predeceased by: her parents, Elsie Patterson (Lutz) and George Whitman; her husband Sherman Thomas; her stepfather Clarence Patterson; her birth father George Whitman; her siblings, Donald and Audrey; and her granddaughter Elsie.

She is survived by: her children, Frances Whynot (Winford), Kevin Thomas (Annette), Brian Thomas (Janet), Sheryl Morash (Barry) and Donald Thomas. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and counting, and a step great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Life Branch Church (10 Lancaster Dr, Dartmouth, NS B3A4Y9). A reception was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
