She was predeceased by: her parents, Reginald Maxwell and Vivian Maxwell; her husband Donald Valardo; her siblings, Jimmy, Kenneth, Jackie and Heather Costigan; and her granddaughter Melissa Wylie.

She is survived by: her children, Debra Barlow (James), Patti Wylie (James), Tony Valardo (Patti) and Nancy Penny (Darrell); her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Thomas Barlow, Nicholas, Megan Wylie, Kristian and Matthew Valardo; her great grandchildren, Cydney Carruthers and Daxton Yee; and her brother Grant Maxwell. She is also survived by her extended family, dear friends.

She served as Board Member and Chairperson of the Dartmouth VON, and as a board member for the YMCA Dartmouth, Dartmouth Community Concert, and the Provincial Heart & Stroke Foundation.
