He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce Gates and Mildred Gates (Langille); and his stepson Stephen Regan. He is survived by: his wife Grace Stevenson-Gates; his daughter Sarah Gates (Rochelle Braganza); his granddaughter Ella; his stepdaughter-in-law Marisa Wright; his stepgrandchildren, Whitney, Katrina and Atarah; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Hunter and Jace. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
