He was predeceased by: his parents, Wellesley Smith and Jessie Smith (Teal); his sister Erminie; and his brother-in-law Gerald Herman. He is survived by: his children, Paul (Mary Elizabeth) and Susan; his grandchildren, Matthew (Jenna) and Katherine; his stepsisters, Mary Blanche and Jean Teal; his siblings-in-law, Beryl Teskey, Anne MacLean, Elsie MacLean, Muriel McLaughlin, Judy MacLean, Ralph Peters and Donald MacLean; and his niece Muriel Conrad.

Donations in Chester's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia, St. Marks Anglican Church or to the charity of your choice.
