He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Poirier and Ann Poirier; his wife Ann McDow; and his children, Anne Poirier and Stephen McDow.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah (George) and Robert (Susan); and his stepchildren, Wayne (Darlene), Irene, Donna (Chester), Patricia (Jim), Blair and Laura. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lion's Club, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the SPCA of Nova Scotia.
