He was predeceased by: his parents, Kirby Coolen and Marion Coolen (Westhaver); and his siblings, Elsie, Jean, Bernard (Bunny), Lester, Charlie and Wilfred.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" (Clarke); his sister Faye McGinn; and his pet Maggie Coolen. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
