He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hastings and Maude Hastings (Milner); his siblings, Gladys, Grace Hastings, Frances (Cecil Smith), Greta (Len Purdy), Marion (Tom Lowerison) and Gerald Hastings; his sister-in-law Joyce Hastings; and his nephews, Wayne Smith and Jeffrey Hastings.

He is survived by: his wife Hilda (Mitchell); his children, Brian (Christine), Janet Baxter (Phillip) and Karen Veinot (Tim); his grandchildren, Robert, Scott (Sonya), Jenna Hastings (Dana), Hannah and Benjamin Veinot; his great grandchild Tyson Hastings; his brother Ronald Hastings; and his sister-in-law Marjorie Hastings of Quispamsis, NB. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
